This past week I had the honor of covering Atlanta International Fashion Week (AIFW). This was my first and definitely not my last fashion week. AIFW was founded by Paula Whittle and has been running for the past six years. AIFW supports and promotes independent designers and inspiring models from Georgia, all over the United States and globally. AIFW also started a mentor program called Fashion Apprentice for young girls to be exposed to the fashion industry.

The kickoff for AIFW got started at Bottle Bar Buckhead. There was such a great turnout, designers, models and makeovers by Motives for LaLa. The atmosphere was lively and I had a great time talking to the AIFW participants and designers.

Overall, Atlanta International Fashion Week was good. They had a great lineup of designers and models. Also, the venues they chose gave guests a great experience of what Atlanta has to offer. AIFW has tremendous potential for being a top fashion week in the U.S. With any event there are bound to be roadblocks and miscommunications, however how they are handled is the important part. AIFW has a lot of growing to do, but once they find their groove in things they will be one of the best fashion weeks the fashion industry has to offer. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Atlanta International Fashion Week!
